BLOOD STAINS |
Since the time when Romanowsky discovered that a decomposing beaker of aqueous Methylene blue on a window sill produced brilliant results as a component of a blood stain, very little has changed. This basic fundamental is still in play today and in combination with Eosin provides the routine technique for differentiating blood cells in every Haematology lab in the World.
We are one of the few companies in the World who make our own Romanowsky compound. We have our own technique developed and refined over almost 20 years. Our process produces a high quality, reliable product batch after batch.
This material is used to prepare the traditional blood stains. However as demands have tightened we also offer a blood stain using highly purified standardised compounds for the more critical applications.
Blood stain stability
Some Romanowsky type blood stains are inherently unstable . Although we use stabilising techniques in formulation these products still have relatively short shelf-lives. To ensure the best possible product our blood stains are produced fresh at the time of supply. This ensures highest quality at time of receipt by the customer - we also advise customers to order small amounts regularly therefore keeping their own stocks fresh.
We welcome your comments and enquiries.

SP300 DIFF-3
Kit
1 kit
This is one of the most popular products. Used daily for routine
blood cell differentiation. It produces a stain picture similar to
that of Leishmans/Wrights stain only in a fraction of the time
[less than 1 minute]
Sample available on request
There is a 6 page technical leaflet with the kit guiding the user to
the various uses of DIFF-3
some of which are:
-- Rapid Blood Cell differentiation
-- Spermatozoa demonstration
-- Parasite demonstration
-- H.Pylori in tissue sections.

which is a certain way to guarantee unbeatable stain
stain performance each time. All rapid blood stains have
short shelf lives. This kit with separate components has
exceptionally long life with brilliant performance
guaranteed to the last drop.
Technical leaflet available on request.

SP350 RETICULOCYTE STAIN 1 kit
In the past certain stains have proved unreliable on a batch by
batch basis for demonstrating reticulocytes. Our formulation uses
purfied components in a buffered solvent system that can be
controlled for quality far more reliable than earlier techniques.
The method involves a short incubation period after which
reticulo-filamentious material will stain dark blue, clearly defined
against a pale greenish background.
This is a high quality guaranteed performance product.
Please click the HOTSPOT in the picture above to see method
and details.
SP370 FETAL HAEMOGLOBIN
KIT 1 kit
To demonstrate HbF in blood smears.
Strict quality monitoring using HbA/HbF controls during preparation

Results obtained: HbF containing erythrocytes - Bright Deep Pink
HbA containing erythrocytes - Grey/pink outer
membrane of the 'Ghost' cells clearly defined.
Leukocytes - Blue nuclei.

FOR ROMANOWSKY STAINS |
Rowmanowsky stains (Giemsa, Leishmans, Wrights etc) are pH sensitive. Tinctorial (stain picture) quality can be altered by changes in the final pH of staining reagent, this can be caused by differences in the quality or source of the water used to dilute such stains. Tinctorial quality and consistency can be maintained by the use of dilution buffers, which when added to the diluent water will produce stain reagents of the required pH.
Acid pH (<7.0) will emphasize eosinophilic staining.
Basic pH (>7.0) will emphasize azureophilic (basophilic) staining.
In general, blood stains are diluted to produce solutions of slightly acid pH, 6.50-6.80.
We offer a range of buffer concentrates covering pH's 6.50 / 6.80 / 7.00 / 7.20 / 7.40 / 7.60, supplied in 10 vial or 25 vial packs each vial makes 5 litres of dilution buffer. They offer great value for money and the certainty of preparing blood stains of the required pH time and again.
To maintain the tinctorial qualities of the final stain slides should be rinsed in the same buffer.
Concentrates - ready-to-use.
High quality, accurate, time saving and good value for money.
